Tips & Tricks
I recommend purchasing a book which I was quoted in, “Food-Safe Kitchens” by Ann Marchiony.
Food-Safe Tips:
This is how I organize my home refrigerator. Top shelf: half is for dairy ( such as sour cream, yogurt, cottage cheese, butter, etc.), the other half is for cooked foods, leftovers, etc. Second shelf: eggs on one side; juice, milk, etc. on the other side. Always on the bottom--raw meat, that I put into a large plastic container.
A CAP full of Bleach in a squirt bottle of water will act as a sanitation cleaner for counter tops and cutting boards. Use the cap off the bleach bottle to measure. More is not better in this case.
Health tip:
Fish Oils are more important than ever. Since Americans consume very little fresh fish, our national diet is lacking in Omega-3”s. Omega-3 fatty acids promote healthy blood chemistry to support the heart, brain, nerves, vision and joints. And fish oils are the most potent source of DHA and EPA. I use Carlson Brand Fish Oils. If eating Fresh Fish, make sure you purchase Wild fish.
General Tips & Tricks:
Place a small wet towel or piece of rubber shelving under your cutting board will keep it from sliding around on the counter top.
When using a standing mixer ( counter top), place a large piece a plastic wrap over the bowl. From one side to the other, wrapping it around the bowl. This will act as a shield, containing items inside the bowl.
